Café Skansen is a restaurant located in Christiania Torg, Oslo. The area is beaming during the hot summer months (when we have those), but turns quiet during the colder months. Inside the many restaurants in the area that’s where the people are. This Saturday every chair is taken by someone enjoying themselves withtraditional food and tasteful beer.

The menu
Very traditional, fish-oriented, menu. Not a large selection of beer, but enough. If you want a glass of wine there’s several choices to choose from, mostly from France.
The food
I am sorry to say that the Chicken Sandwich looked better than it tasted. The chicken was fresh and well complimented with the curry cream, but I could have made this a lot better at home by seasoning the chicken and it would have received a 4*. I love avocado, but I pictured an avocado paste and not the sliced up avocado with no peppers. It was a good, but dull food experience.

My rating: ♥♥♥
Thomas tried the Sausage Plate and liked it. The sausages were perfect and full of good flavor, but the mustard was a bit too hot. To earn one more ♥ it should have been milder, or there should have been something on the plate that complimented the mustard more than mashed potato or cabbage.

Atmosphere
The place is lively and noisy, more friendly than romantic. A place to enjoy a traditional meal with a good beer or wine. The colors of the interior are brown and white, and reminds of a stylish German pub. The service is good as the waitress is attentive, efficient, and friendly.
