So as bucket lists go - mine is zara Hatke.
1. A trek to the Mt Everest Base Camp.
Yes ,we start well. Nothing can make me climb the mountain, I just want to walk to the base of the majestic Sagarmatha- if only to gain some vicarious adrenaline rush.
It will be with a back pack and a fully loaded pro series camera so that I can capture the beauty.
See how smartly I gather more in one desire.
2. Next on ...The adrenaline rush has to be Bungee Jumped.
A trip to New Zealand is on the anvil ,the best Bungee jumps happen here. I want to be able to take that plunge into nothingness, I want to fly and I want to scream out as loud as I can. Not out of fear... but out of the sheer thrill of it.
And maybe do it again and again...
And keep a video recording of it ,for posterity.
3. A trip to Paris and L'Ecole Cordon Blue.
An education is the most important insurance policy a person can gift himself/herself. Without that foundation , one is like a rudderless boat. Since I am autodidact, I think I need some professional guidance. A deft little french Pattissiere to teach me how to pull the dough and coax it into a croissant, how to spin my caramel when I make my Croquembouche- just so I get that perfect crunch... I would also love to enroll for the French Nouvelle Cuisine courses to know which vegetable puree is great with which dish. Also ,a desire to educate hubby dear's palette. His tongue really needs a spirit of adventure.
4. Buy a big car - Read an almost bullet proof SUV.
No sir, I have no suicidal tendencies nor do I harbor any terrorist like desires. All I want is a strong car ,that I can drive through the roads of Delhi, or for that matter Punjab, without the uttering the entire list of banned cuss words or worrying about hubby dears reaction to a dented fender.
Simple.
India is a maddeningly crazy place to drive in.
5. To ensure a smooth future for Sweet Child.
That I think would be the best gift I ever give our child. We as parents are trying our level best to provide the best education, guidance, love ,affection and security of a happy home that we can give our son. Along with all that , an insurance policy to secure the best in the future for him would be imperative. A great career can be secured with proper planning. That planning is on my bucket list.
One can only hope and pray to the almighty that life goes smoothly and problem free...And insure a safe future.
I hope I live long enough to make sure that I do all that I have marked -But I hope to manage it all before my skin stretches because of old age and gravity. I want to step across to the other world while I am still presentable. Not old and wrinkled like a discarded tissue.
AMEN.
