Funky cartoon artwork on the wall in The Wine Cave.
When I visit KC Peaches Wine Cave it's normally around midnight and I'm usually sipping some plonk so it was a whole different experience to be there at midday having brunch. The place works well as a wine cellar but perhaps not so well for brunch, the place is a bit airless and lacking in natural light. What we missed in sunshine though was made up for in the brightness and cheeriness of our waitress. She was charming and bubbly to such an extent that you can only assume she loves her job. The service was impeccable throughout.
Himself went for The Full Monty which included some Ed Hicks bacon and sausage along with tomatoes, black and white pudding, mushrooms, home fries, eggs and toast. It was a substantial meal but it lacked something or maybe it just wasn't greasy enough! While it included all the right components it just wasn't the "heart attack on a plate" that a full Irish breakfast can be! In all fairness though, that's probably a good thing!
The Full Monty! Literally not much room left on that plate!
I went for the Moroccan eggs with bacon. I could have opted for fruit salad with it instead but I'm not a good girl! The eggs were baked in a tagine surrounded by tomato sauce and topped with bacon. The sauce was fine, I expected it to be more spicy though, it could have done with more of a kick for me but nonetheless the dish worked well and benefited greatly from the absence of fruit salad I think!
Moroccan eggs with bacon. Perfect way to start a lazy day!
We had some good quality coffees too and were never out of butter or relish thanks to our dazzling waitress. Overall we climbed out of the cave, dazzled by the sun, full and content. I'm very fond of KC Peaches but I think I might leave the cave for drinking and do my eating upstairs in future!
