Bakehouse on Bachelors Walk.
The interior is really cute. I adore the olive green walls and the chunky pink salt and pepper grinders. I coveted them. I really love the feel of the place. Just don't come here if you're having a row with you're other half. The many rolling pins which adorn the walls could make for very handy weapons.

Bakehouse rose even further in my estimation when I ordered some tea. It's something I'm reluctant to do in restaurants as I'm beyond picky when it comes to tea but I noticed on the menu that they serve leaf tea. The waitress rhymed off a list of teas from which I choose assam. It duly arrived brewing in a tea pot accompanied by a teacup and strainer. Bliss!

We were there for brunch but there's a whole feast of other wonders on the menu. You can have your choice from soups and sandwiches to salads and baked potatoes. All are reasonably priced between €5 and €10. A number of things interested me on the brunch menu, both the bacon buttie and the omelettes sounded good, it was going to be a hard choice!
In the end I opted for the smoked salmon and scrambled egg. When it was placed in front of me it was so big that all I could do was stare at it. The waitress actually asked me if something was wrong! As well as scrambled eggs and smoked salmon I had an egg cup full of homemade relish and one of cream cheese, such a nice little touch. It was also accompanied by some really delicious brown bread. In the end it defeated me. There was just so much of it!

M had no such problems though, he pulled out all the stops and managed to finish his full Irish which included a garlic and herb sausage, back and white pudding, bacon, eggs and tomato. He also got some of the wonderful relish. It really hit the spot apparently!

Thank god we were full when it came to paying the bill or else I might have indulge in some of the beautiful cakes on offer. There are cupcakes galore but the one thing that caught my eye was a very pretty carrot cake with a dainty little carrot on top!

Just a quick word on the music in the restaurant, something I normally don't comment on! Bakehouse had some brilliant 70s and 80s tunes on the stereo, just perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch. Kiki Dee and Elton John went just perfectly with my scrambled eggs!
