Good morning blog friends! Hope you all had a relaxing weekend and are energized to start your week. I’m back to working 7 days a week which pretty much makes weekends meaningless, but at least I didn’t have to work double jobs over the weekend. Which (if your powers of deduction are working this morning) means I’ve finally started my full time teaching job! Things are going fantastically so far, I’ve gotten settled in without a problem and am getting to know my classes. I think it’s going to be a great experience and getting paid for teaching (rather than doing the same amount of work for college graduation) is an excellent feeling. I also have a job interview for a permanent teaching job at a different high school coming up and the school I’m at is rumored to be hiring English teachers in the next month. So all those prayers and good thoughts you’ve been sending my way are paying off, please keep it up and wish me luck! Maybe, if I stay really lucky, things will keep going as well as they are now!
As my inspiration for the week I decided on what may be one of the more creative patterns I’ve found on Etsy. If you’ve heard of the game “rock, paper, scissors, lizard, spock” (or just seen it talked about on Big Bang Theory) you’ll appreciate this chart regardless of its crafty value. But if you happen to be both a stitcher and a nerd, you’ll love it twice as much.

Brought to you by Robin’s Designs on etsy here is both a chart for the game and a pattern for the stitching so you can play the game on your own. At $5 for a PDF pattern it isn’t too expensive and was a pattern I seriously considered purchasing for myself. It’s added to my favorites, so maybe once I’ve finished the HAED I’ll give this one a try.
I haven’t made as much book progress as I’d hoped and am falling quickly behind my 125books this year goal (well, only three books behind so far but I don’t see myself picking up the pace any time soon). I did manage to finally finish Game of Thrones. Both the book and the first season of the series and really, really enjoyed it. One of the best fantasy series I’ve read in a while. If only I had the time to just sit around and read the next 4 books… I’m holding off on the second book in the series so I can finish off some shorter books on my pile and then head back to it.
At the moment I’m about half way through “Cut Crop Die” a crafty murder mystery. It’s interesting, but has some issues I’m hoping change as the book goes on. It’s set in my home town, which is one of the reasons I was drawn to it, and I thought the writer lived here too, but it’s coming across like someone whose never set foot in our city and is just playing on stereotypes…which is getting a little frustrating…. But other than that the mystery is decent. Is more of an arm-chair mystery than true crime (it’s even fluffier than a Ms. Marple murder and not half as intelligently written). But it is what it is, and it’s not terrible.
