Borrowed Inspiration for Your Week: April Fool’s Day Edition

By Crossstitchyourheart @TMNienaber

I wanted to think of a good prank for April Fool’s Day, but I couldn’t.  So I guess it’s just a regular post day.  Oh well.

The Spring Break was fabulous.  I got to spend time at home, relaxing, catching up on work, and feeling generally less stressed and rushed than I have the past few weeks.  I also made a nice investment in my summer reading stash with about 8 new books (to see what they are you’ll have to jump to the twitter) and a Barnes and Noble membership card to utilize over the summer (starting May 21st for me).  This is the week of call backs for the second round of interviews for the job I really, really want so I’ve got my fingers crossed and am praying every night that this works out.  If not I guess I’ll just have to tell myself it wasn’t meant to be and keep looking.  Which wouldn’t be the end of the world.  I like to try and stay positive about things and take a “if it didn’t work out it’s just because something better is going to come around” attitude.  (Not that I can keep it up all the time, but in theory I like it).

I’m not sure about you, but for some reason when spring and summer weather hit I get a maddening urge to watch horror movies.  And not just good horror movies, but bad, terrible, B-rated drive in style horror movies.  And trust me, I have plenty of them (for all of you followers who jumped over from ZCP you know just how many…) so I thought I’d get excited for summer and dive into horror mode already.

From PyroDogPins Etsy store this pattern retails for about 3GBP (I tried to find the symbol on my keyboard but apparently my laptop doesn’t have it and I’ve never figured out how to make special symbols on this one).  Now, I know A Clockwork Orange isn’t really a “horror” movie/book in the traditional sense, but I think it’s close enough that we can agree this pattern is just fabulous.  If I had a designated “movie/theater room” in my house I’d make this and put it there.  But I don’t.  So…I guess I’ll have to think of somewhere else.  Although if I end up having my own classroom this time next year I could put it there…. Ideas, ideas.

I also thought I’d give you other crafters a little inspiration today and add a section to the blog on finished crafts to inspire you into doing something yourself (or inspire me into doing something myself…)

A lot of bloggers have been talking about homemade journal making, and when I found this made-journal on Pinterest I had to share.  I love the combination of cloth and ribbons they use on this book.  It looks gorgeous.  I’d love to get something like this as a gift.  Maybe I’ll have to devote some time this summer to figuring out how to make it myself.

I managed to finish Paris I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down over the break and am currently reading two books: Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void and Mr. Penumbra’s 24Hour Bookstore.  To see my progress in real time and what I think of the books you’ll have to follow me on twitter @XStitchUrHeart or friend me on Goodreads.

Enjoy your week!  Hope you’re now inspired.
