Borrowed Inspiration for Your Week

By Crossstitchyourheart @TMNienaber

Hello fellow bloggers!  I hope you all have big plans for the week (or exciting little plans).  I’ve come down/relapsed into the cold from mt. doom and am starting to think I’m suffering for a months long case of walking pneumonia. So catching up on sleep is high on my to-do list.

On a more pleasant note, after spending a nice, relaxing Friday at the library last week I decided to start a new summer project.  Having a backlogged list of fiction both in paper, electronic, and ARC books the last thing I need is to pick up books from the library.  But I hate to leave empty handed…

Solution?  I dove into the non-fiction section head first.  Sure, those are still books to read, but I feel a little less guilty checking out books that are totally different from the ones waiting at home.  The first book I got was the VOGUE Stitchionary (Vol. 5) filled with 160 crochet block patterns.  So far I’ve tackled a whopping 2 (pictures to come Friday) so just 158 to go!

In the spirit of my new hobby I thought this week’s tutorial is all about beginning crochet.

Now, this video is beyond simple for the very beginning of your crochet project, but “Simple Crochet” has an awesome playlist of videos that take you through all the basic crochet steps and the slow-mo sections really helped me double check I was doing the right thing.  I know most of you are a little more crochet-advanced than me…but for those of you just beginning hopefully you’ll find these videos as helpful as I did.

The other book I picked up from the library is called “How to Build a Time Machine” and is taking me on a mind-liquefying journey into the quantum mechanics of time and the universe.  I feel smarter just by having it in my room.

Enjoy the rest of your week.  Let me know if you’re doing any crafts or reading any good books this week!
