BookSparks often has blog book tours or book challenges that span over the course of a season, or just a few books. Today’s book, Spiritual Vixen’s Guide To An Unapologetic Life by Maureen Muldoon, is a book that is part of this year’s BookSpark Book Tour called the #NSFW – the Not Safe For Work Blog Tour!! The publishing date for this book is November 20, 2018.
At first, I was a bit reluctant about the whole tour, but then I decided that I could probably make it through. This isn’t my typical genre, which I’m sure everyone already knows.
To be honest, call me a prude if you want but the cover of the book really put me off. I loved that BookSparks included some fantastic lipstick with the package, but the book itself — well, I handed it off to one of my friends who said she’d be interested in reading it for me. I just couldn’t even….
When I stopped by my friend’s desk at work, I told her I was checking in on the book. She told me she was approximately 80% finished with the book. She kept waiting for something to happen and despite turning page after page of what she described as “ramblings”, she never got to the “something” that would happen. She went further to say that she believed that she wouldn’t be finishing the remainder of the book because she just couldn’t imagine anything developing that would keep her interest.
It’s kind of funny though, because when I’m reading the other reviews of folks, it looks like there is “God talk” included in this book – had I been able to get past the cover, maybe I would have enjoyed the book after all given that I’m a Christian. Too late though, and so since I won’t read the book and my friend won’t finish the book, I’m thinking this review is pretty much finished. I apologize for anyone who might feel offended by this post, as it was not my intention.
