After she was betrayed by her now ex-husband, Laurel quit her accountant job because she just needed a fresh start so has come back to her hometown in Darling, VT and she’s now the proud owner of the Ladybug Garden Center. Because of a photo taken when she was a child, she is slightly famous in Darling. She and her childhood friend Aiden were captured when they gave each other a sweet kiss on Darling’s well-known “Kissing Bridge” when they were five years old. Unfortunately, back when they were only 17 years old, their friendship came to an end when Aiden hurt Laurel.
Aiden has always had regret for the decisions he made back when he was young. He’s a police officer in town now and of course, when he runs into Laurel because of his job he’s impressed and wants to spend more time with her but Laurel’s heart is very guarded thanks to her experience with Aiden and her ex-husband, but overall, she still believes people are good.
I loved the premise of Somebody Like You – that small town second chance romance. I also loved romantic legend of the Kissing Bridge, that whoever kisses on the bridge will have everlasting love. Ms. Alward has a great style of writing that drew me in right from the beginning. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series as they are published!
