Really wondering how to start today's post. Seems to be such a block :).Blogging has become such a obsession to me that while I cook a dish,my mind parallelly frames sentences and content for the post and on the contrary I am short of words many a days while I sit with laptop,just because I don't make a note of my thoughts.I often think I should jot down the points along with pictures for reference but I am still to implement it,wish I could blog in a more organized way:) Well ,coming to today's recipe,it is a quick fix for those who want to wrap up with a fast yet tasty dish.Days are getting longer and already hot here and I just want to cook something fast and get out of kitchen.Recipes like this bombay chutney comes to our rescue during these times,a very flavorful,tangy stew(why do we call this chutney that too Bombay chutney!!!) based on gram flour.Very simple recipe,suitable for bachelors/working women who long for home cooked food.Goes very well with puri/chapathis and also with rice and appalam.Try out and let me know.
Bombay chutney recipe
Star ingredients:Gram flour(kadalai mavu)
Time:20 minutes
Serves:3
Ingredients:
3 tablespoon gram flour
1 large or 2 small onions sliced thin
2 tomatoes chopped fine
3 green chillies
10-12 curry leaves
1/2 teaspoon scrapped ginger
Juice of half lemon
1 teaspoon mustard
2 teaspoons channa dal
1 teaspoon urad dal
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt
2 tablespoons oil
Method:
1.Dissolve 3 tablespoons gram flour in 1/2 cup of water.Make sure there are no lumps.
2.Heat oil in a kadai and temper with mustard,urad and channa dal.Add green chillies,ginger,curry leaves and saute well.
3.Add the chopped onions and saute till translucent.
4.Add chopped tomatoes and saute till mushy.
5.Now add the gram flour water and 2 more cups of water.Add salt,cover and cook for 10 minutes. Stew would have thickened by now
6.Add cilantro leaves.lemon juice mix well and serve hot.
Notes:
1.It is important to cook gram flour well till the raw smell goes off.Add more water if needed for a thinner stew
2You can add red chillies instead of green chillies and add garlic along with ginger.
