Blackhawks Lose In Shootout

The Chicago Blackhawks (27-5-4) battled the St. Louis Blues (19-14-2) to a 4-3 shootout loss.

St. Louis got the scoring started in the first period when Adam Cracknell scored.  Assisted by Chris Porter and Ryan Reaves.  The Blackhawks were unable to touch the back of the net in the first period.

Jonathan Toews scrambled for the puck in front of the net.  He ended but punching it into the net tying the game.  Assisted by Brent Seabrook and Patrick Kane.  The Hawks were not done.  Jonathan Toews found Brandon Saad streaking in from the point and feed him the puck.  Saad firerd into the back of the net.  The Hawks went into the third period with a 2-1 lead.

The Blues responded quickly in the third period. in just over a seven minute span the had two more goals to make it 3-2 Blues lead.  The tying goal was scored again by Adam Cracknell.  Assisted by Chris Porter.  The go ahead goal was scored by David Backes.  Assisted by Jay Bouwmeester and Alexander Steen.

The Hawks did no respond until there was less than five minutes remaining in the period.  Viktor Stalberg picked up a rebound in front of the net and got it past the Blues net-minder.  Assisted by Michal Rozsival and Bryan Bickell.  The game would remain tied until the shootout.

It took six rounds for the Blues to get the game winning shot.  Both teams scored in the first, second and fourth rounds.  Kevin Shattenkirk scored the game winner.

The Chicago Blackhawks travel to face the Nashville Predators on Saturday.
