Over the weekend I went back home to Crewe to celebrate my mums 50th birthday. What a glorious Bank Holiday weekend we had, I still can’t believe how lucky we were with the weather. The sun was shining, the fizz was flowing and hopefully a good time was had by all. I put my crafty skills to good use and made some decorations to hang in the garden. These very pretty tea light holders looked beautiful flickering in the dark.To make your own jam jar tealight holder, follow these simple steps below. You will need;Empty, clean jam jars (any shape or size) Lid not required.Metal wirePliersDouble sided sticky tapeDecorative touches such as lace, ribbons, buttons, sequins etc.The design around the jar is up to you and your creativity. I simply attached a piece of double sided tape to the side of the jar and wrapped a piece of lace around it, securing with another piece of tape. I tied a piece of ribbon around the middle of the jar to finish it off. I also glued buttons around the middle of one jar and added a decorative tape to another. To make the handle for your tea light holder you will need a very long piece of wire. Wrap it around the rim of the jar twice, allowing enough wire at each end. Fold one end of the wire over to create a handle and tuck it underneath the other piece of wire that is around the rim of the jar. Secure with the pliers. You may need to twist the wire to keep it in place. With the excess piece of wire curl it around the other side with pliers to secure it. Now add your tea light and hang in your desired place.
