Beyond the Bookshelf Saturday

By Crossstitchyourheart @TMNienaber

I’ve decided to try and do something a little different, and we’ll see together if it works out.  We all know that summer is usually the time people chose to go on vacation but some of you (if you’re like me) are too busy with work and regular life to go anywhere extravagant.  This summer I’ve decided to take you all on a book vacation, featuring a book that takes place in a different state or country each week with some facts about that place.  Now you can vacation without going too far from home.

Today’s book: The Next Time You See Me by Holly Goddard Jones

Place: Roma, Kentucky USA

So let’s see what Kentucky has to offer…The two biggest things you think when you think Kentucky (at least those readers from the US, I’m not sure about the international set) is Kentucky bourbon and horse racing (and fried chicken).

But that’s not all.  You can explore some civil war history or work on your tan outdoors with hiking trails, fishing, or rafting.  I’ll be honest, the only outdoor activity that really appeals to me is hiking (or reading outside if that counts as an outdoor activity).

And in case you want a little more Kentucky flavor, here’s the official tourism video/ad for Bardstown, KY also known as the bourbon capital of the world.  Now, there’s no reason I’ve chosen Bardstown above other Kentucky cities, it was just the only one that had a well put together video on youtube for me to share.

Any comments to share?  You know what to do.  Any idea of where I should visit next?  I’m happy to visit but make sure there’s a book that goes with it (and yes, we can visit imaginary places too).
