Spending a lot of time in the warm shower or taking a nice long bath is a great way to relax and enjoy your time. But it’s not that pleasant when it comes to smelling the awful odor of chlorine, which ruins the moment. Every day we drink about one or two liters of water, we shower with about forty and take a bath with about two hundred. Imagine the amount of chlorine we are exposed to daily. Hot water releases chlorine which we breathe in and the amount of inhaled chlorine is actually much bigger than the one when we drink tap water. This is some very disturbing statistics, having in mind the negative effects this chemical element has on our health. There are ways to remove chlorine from the bath and some effective methods to neutralize it. Here are a few tips on how to do it easily and get rid of awful chemicals in your bathroom.

Vitamin C

Studies show that vitamin C can help in the process of improving the quality of bath water. What you should do is add one gram of vitamin C to the hot water in the bath and this will eliminate the bad smell of chlorine. This is a very easy and inexpensive way to handle the problem and enjoy your bath without being disturbed by an unpleasant smell.

Mandarin Orange

Another easy method that has been tested is putting mandarin peels and wormwood herbs into the hot water of the bath. This is a great way to not only neutralize the smell of chlorine and clean the water but also bring a lovely fresh scent, which makes you close your eyes and feel as if you are on an exotic island.

Baking Soda

Everyone is aware of the many great uses of baking soda. Well, here is another one. Adding about a cup of baking soda in the hot water is another easy way to get rid of the bad smell of chlorine and cleanse the water.

Chlorine Bath Salts

Bath salts are another way to neutralize the smell of chlorine while taking a bath. There are such products that you can find on the market, or you can also prepare home-made bath salts. To do this, you need 2 cups of Epsom salt, ½ tablespoon vitamin C powder, ½ sea salt, ½ cup baking soda, 3 drops rosemary and 3 drops peppermint. This is a great recipe that you can make at home and enjoy a refreshing chlorine-free bath.

Ventilation

While handling the problem with chlorine in the bath seems pretty easy, it’s a bit more complicated when it comes to the shower. An essential thing is to have good ventilation in the bathroom, so that most of the evaporated chemicals in the air can go out while you’re taking a shower.

Filters

Most people are aware of the filters that are used to clean and purify drinking water. Most of us use such tools. Keeping in mind the amount of chlorine we are exposed to when taking a shower and also the negative way chlorine affects the skin, it’s necessary to consider using shower filters as well and protect yourself from chlorine. There are many types of shower filters that you can find on the market.
