Baking A Gingerbread Tree

Baking A Gingerbread Tree
It's my favorite time of the year again - CHRISTMAS! There's something about December which sends everyone into jolly overdrive.. I secretly think santa gets his elves to spike the water everyday from December the 1st onwards haha. I absolutely love the spirit of the holiday and I really wanted Ewan to get a feel of it, He's only two so he doesn't really understand whats going on but I try to get him involved with the festivities. The one great thing about being a parent is making christmas special for the children.. I can't wait for Ewan to be a little older so I can start Teaching him about Jesus' birth & dressing him up as a shepherd for the annual school nativity play. But most of all I can't  wait to pretend Santa Claus is real all over again, keeping his imagination alive.
For the holidays I went out and brought a gingerbread christmas tree kit so me & Ewan can bake away for the rest of the family. If you can't get your hands on this kit from Tesco's then follow a simple gingerbread recipe and I will show you how to assemble it all together. Baking A Gingerbread TreeSo in the kit I got the baking mix, icing mix, decorations & stencils. The stencils were probably the most annoying part so if you can get your hands on some different sized star cookie cutters then it will save you a heck of a lot of time. Baking A Gingerbread TreeHere's Ewan making the gingerbread mixture. Once the dough is mixed and rolled out you will need to cut out 5 different sized stars (two of each) and 4 circles of 3.5 diameter and 3 circles of 2 cm diameter. Once cooked and cooled down you can decorate them as you wish and assemble them into a tree (using icing as a glue) like mine below using the circle (biggest to smallest) pieces in between each star. And VOILA! you should have a ginger bread christmas tree.  Leigh xoBaking A Gingerbread TreeBaking A Gingerbread TreeBaking A Gingerbread Tree
