Review of Trutex school uniform

With only a week to go until Little Mr A starts his second year at primary school, my thoughts this week are turning to getting him all ready for going back, including sorting out a new uniform!

My task this year has been made slightly easier by Trutex who have kitted Little Mr A out with a full uniform of trousers, polo shirt and jumper. Last year we bought all of his uniform from a well known supermarket so I was really keen to see the difference in quality between the two.

When the uniform arrived my first impressions were good. It was nicely packaged and felt and looked to be good quality.

Junior Boys Single Pleat Pull on Trousers

I chose these trousers for Little Mr A as they are so easy for him to be able to put on and take off by himself as there are no buttons or zips - they simply pull on and off. With Little Mr A being quite skinny I often struggle to find trousers that fit well without a belt, however, these fit really well.

The label says they are stain resistant (I sure hope so as he is always throwing himself around on the grass or spilling something on himself!) and are a low bobble fabric which is a great feature and I am hoping will keep them looking new for longer.

Made from 65% polyester and 35% viscose the trousers can also be tumble dried - so handy with winter imminent!

I have washed the trousers ready for wearing and they have washed very nicely. I will be interested to see how long they stay looking new for.

Poloshirt

Trutex produce these shirts in a huge variety of colours so I'm sure every school colour would be provided for. Unfortunately Little Mr A's school has a white t-shirt uniform. I say unfortunately as they are a nightmare to keep clean! The collars get dirty and he always has a stain down his front from one thing or another!

The polo shirt feels great quality and again, has washed really well. As with the trousers, the shirt is made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton is low bobble and tumble dry safe.

The shirt also fits very nicely and the buttons are easy enough for Little Mr A to be able to do up and undo by himself. They feel very secure too and I'm sure they will withstand little hands being a bit rough with them day in and day out!

Sweatshirt

Again, these sweatshirts come in a huge variety of colours to suit every school uniform. For Little Mr A I chose the Royal Blue and I am very pleased with the colour, it matches very well to the colour of the official school jumpers.

The sweatshirt feels very good quality and has a lovely fleecy soft inside which I think will be really nice for Little Mr A to wear. As with the other items it is made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton, is tumble dry safe and low bobble. Having washed it ready for wearing I can say that it has washed very well and has not lost any of it's colour.

Overall I am very pleased with the uniform - it feels much better quality than that which we have had in the past and time will tell whether it will withstand the school days of a boisterous little boy!

This year Trutex have created a really handy (and free!) back to school guide which have been distributed to schools and uniform retailers to give parents information and advice on managing the back to school period from experts such as the NSPCC, Beat Bullying, The Children's Food Trust and more. There are some great tips in the booklet about keeping your children safe online, how to spot bullying, healthy food, sleep tips and helping with homework amongst others. It is well worth a read!

Disclaimer - For the purpose of this review we were sent the items of uniform as above. All opinions are honest and my own and all photographs were taken by me and are not to be used without my permission.
