I love, love, LOVE the first week of September. Despite leaving High School 10 years ago (oh-my-god-I’m-old), I still love buying myself a crisp new notebook, picking out a fresh biro and packing up my satchel for the first day back at ‘school’. I have no lessons to go to and sadly my day no longer ends when the bell rings at 3pm, but luckily I can still rock a Back to School Style despite being 26 (like I said, so old).
For this week’s The Edit post, I thought I’d give you all a sneak peek into my beloved satchel, at all the things I consider necessary when starting a new term. Who needs exercise books and calculators when you have a statement necklace and new nail polish?
First things first – no Back to School look is complete without a cute, vintage-style satchel to carry your things. I love this LYDC London version – sling it over your shoulder with the long strap or use the handle on the top to swing it by your side.
A statement necklace is a quick and easy way to update your wardrobe for the new season – this Miso Metal Collar Necklace would look so sweet with a simple white tee and pleated skirt.
Geek glasses are still a big trend, whether you have dodgy eyes (like me) or 20:20 vision. I love London Retro’s range of thick frames – this tortoiseshell style is my favorite. I’ll be wearing mine with a silk scarf tied around my head for that vintage, retro look.
Is there anything better than writing in a brand new notebook for the first time? These cute London-themed books will keep your shopping lists safe. Check out Paperchase for similarly adorable styles.
I’m storing my coral pinks and baby blues away for another year and pulling out my favorite autumnal polishes. Classic red is a good ‘un, but Models Own do a great range of rich shades perfect for cooler days. FYI – if you actually ARE back at school this week, it might be an idea to skip this one… I hear teachers aren’t keen on painted nails!
To finish your Back to School look, you need the perfect bowler hat. This black one will go with any outfit AND it’ll keep your hair neat and tidy – what more could you ask for? Go on – buy it now!
So that’s it – my Back to School bag, packed full of all the stylish essentials I need for the first week of September. Let me know what’s in your Back to School bag!
