Back to Normal(ish)

By Crossstitchyourheart @TMNienaber

If you missed my big post from yesterday (at least I think Sunday was yesterday I have a hard time keeping my days straight in the summer) then you should check it out  and download a copy of my book for free, now that it actually looks like something decent, and then review it.  I really am in desperate need of reviews on goodreads and/or Amazon.  I’ve contacted a few Amazon reviewers so we’ll see where that goes.  I was just going to let things be and let the reviews come in on their own but someone compared me to a serial killer (I promise I’m not) and now I’m a little concerned about exactly who these people are…  I forgot how stressful this whole indie-pub thing is.  I’m not sure I’ll do it again, but that could also just be the paranoia talking.  I’ll give it a year and see what happens.

ANYWAY.  Back to my awesome cross-stitch wedding gift project.  Today’s picture theme is going to be backstitching.

Here’s the lettering with the aqua thread outline.  It didn’t bring out the blue in the green as much as I was hoping it would, but it does add a depth to the letters so at least it’s doing something.  And no, I have no idea why the picture isn’t right-side up.  Sometimes I hate technology.

Here’s the boarder around the whole pattern (this is just a snippet).  It’s not very impressive, I just included a close up because it took forever to finish and I just want people to notice it.  You can also notice the outline of my thumb right in the middle.  This must not have been a good picture day for me or something.

This is the part I’m the most proud of.  This is a three tier cake but this is (obviously) just the first two.  I should have gotten a better close up of the roses because they look really cool.  I just love the detail the pattern included for the flowers on the cake.  It really adds something and makes it look a lot better than it did with just the straight cross-stitch.

That’s all for today.  Come back Wednesday to see the final cake layer!  I know…isn’t it exciting.  Hope you all are of to a good start to your week.  According to my calendar all you UK people have another day off today, and apparently people in New Zealand, but I can’t say I have any followers from there.  Enjoy your time off, do something crafty, read a few good books (I’m buried under a pile of them right now…how I love the library).

Speaking of libraries, anyone in the U.S. near a public library…they’ve finally started up an Adult Summer Reading Club.  It’s just like the ones we had as kids (at least I always did them) except instead of picking a prize out of basket you enter drawings for gift cards and tickets to big-people things.  So if you’re reading books this summer anyway you should take advantage of it.  And yes…I am just really excited to have a reading log to fill out over the summer again.  It’s the little things in life.
