Baby Bjorn Or Ergobaby?

Posted on the 13 November 2015 by Dave Nevue

Are you thinking about which baby carrier to choose? Baby Bjorn or Ergobaby?

Since I have experience from using carriers from both brands here are my thoughts on the subject.

I used a standard carrier from Baby Bjorn when my kids were newborn, the model now named Baby Bjorn One. It gave an excellent support for both me and my baby. The first couple of months I carried the baby with his face fronting my chest, and when he grew bigger I sometimes turned him the other way around so that he was able to see the world in front of him : ).

The Baby Bjorn carrier always felt safe for the baby and at the same time nice to my weak body. I felt no need to change to a different carrier. But when our youngest boy was about nine months me and my husband decided to go on our first trip with our new family member, so my husband went out and bought a travel carrier from Ergobaby which I just loved immediately! It was so light weight in comparison with the Baby Bjorn and so incredibly easy to fold - the carrier itself turns into a bag in which you can fold and stowaway the carrier. At the same time - and this was something that really came as a surprise to me considering the fact that our baby was now much heavier - it felt so nice to my body, despite the fact that it was so much softer and lighter than the Baby Bjorn. It became a dear dear friend to our family during our travelling and thereafter.

When my second boy was born I was ready to take out my beloved ErgoBaby again but I sadly discovedered that it could not be used with a newborn without a special infant insert which we obviously did not have. So I returned to my dear old Baby Bjorn and it provided me with exactly what I needed at the time when carrying my newborn.

Here is a picture of me and my first born in the New York subway:
