Ayush from Hindustan Lever; Haul and Mini Reviews

By Megha Saundaryasansar @saundaryasansar

its the weekend and I'm back on my blogger desk...whats up today???

its a little about one of my recent hauls. Its from one of the recently launched personal care range from HLL. Its Ayush!! Although AYUSH in India refers to Ministry of Indian Medicine and Homeopathy which recently adopted this name; created in March 1995 and renamed as Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) in November 2003. But Why I wanted to try this- reasons....

firstly its the first AYURVEDIC range from the brand

secondly wanted to check out if its truly Ayurvedic and Organic too???

Also every product has been claimed to have some reliable age old ayurvedic ingredient like turmeric, saffron, Rock salt, Ghee etc and they have made sure to associate each product with one of the known ayurvedic formulations like Nalpamaradi Oil, Kumkumadi oil, Arimedas Oil etc

So HLL also adopted this name to give an ethnic or Indian origin to the brand. so lets see what all i could grab and whats my view about them.

1. Anti Pimple Turmeric Face Wash (Rs 110 for 80 gms tube)

Gel face wash with a mild but soothing floral fragrance, claimed to have Turmeric and Nalpamaradi Tailam and both are known for their anti septic and healing properties. If might have been following my posts, you might already know how much i love the body oils and Nalpamaradi Tailam is one of the recent additions to my skin care regimen for the same properties.

The gel wash cleans well without stripping your skin of the natural oils and moisture. This is good for people with oily and acne prone skin but dont expect this to treat extreme conditions like cystic acne etc.

2. Natural fairness Saffron Facewash (Rs 110 for 80 gms tube)

Cream face wash with a soothing fragrance with key ingredients like saffron and Kumkumadi Tailam known for marks clearing and anti blemish properties.

The cream leathers so well that less than pea size is required to wash the face but beware, dont go overboard as a little extra soap can make the skin dry and stretchy. You will feel that you are all robbed off the required moisture.

I could not find any signs of marks clearing since last fifteen days of use. Anyways I never believe that face wash can treat skin as they hardly get contact with skin for a minute or two and that's not enough to treat skin ailments.

3. Purifying Turmeric Soap/ Natural Fairness Saffron Soap/Moisturising Cow's ghee Soap(Rs 30 for 100 gms)

Names are suggestive of their key ingredients. Purifying Turmeric Soap has again the same ingredients as of the face wash- Turmeric and Nalpamaradi Oil. Yellow solid cream bar with nice fragrance which cleans well, lathers well and does not leave skin dry. The best part is it does not melt and hence goes long way. I am yet to try the Red Natural Fairness soap. Would update you on that. While for Moisturising Cow's ghee soap its a white cream bar with Ghee as the key ingredient and it not only cleans but has little moisturising property. The soap glides with its rich lather and would not melt like usual cream soaps.

4. Ayush Whitening toothpaste with Rock Salt (Rs 50 for 80gms tube)

This is probably my first Ayurvedic toothpaste with whitening claims and the same reason why i bought this. The paste like other products again has key ingredients with famous Ayurvedic formulations like Arimedas Tailam and Rock salt known for their teeth strengthening and whitening properties.

The white paste in slim squeezy solid tube is good for cleaning and fresh feeling but for whitening, i dont think it works.

Now what i liked about the produts tried so far-

1. They are reasonably priced

2. Have good formulations to last long (soap that does not melt)

3. Nice indicative names and packaging.

4. No side effects.

5. easily available across all retail and online stores.

1. They are not 100% Ayurvedic and neither 100% organic (altough they do not claim about being organic)

2. Not free of preservatives and soap bases (probably surfactants).

3. Claims are not fully true.

Overall Lever Ayush range is worth trying with the given benefits.

What do you think about this personal Care Range of Ayush??
