Ayurvedic Treatment of Phimosis

Introduction

Phimosis can be defined as a painful condition in which an individual feels pain to retract the penis's foreskin. Usually it occurs in those men or boys who have not undergone the process of circumcision (a phenomenon of removal of foreskin covering the penis's tip). Damage can be given to the foreskin if retracted forcefully. This condition is very common in newborn infants because the skin covering up their penis's tip is very tight. With ongoing age, phimosis improves on its own. By the age of thirteen, foreskin can be retracted easily by an individual.

Causes

The exact cause of phimosis is not known yet. Mostly it occurs in uncircumcised males and in toddlers or infants. But researchers assume following factors involved in the development of phimosis:

  • Ageing: As the age passes, looseness and wrinkles not only occur to the face, but it can affect the penis also. Phimosis can occur at old age if a person gets very less erections.
  • Pull and Stretch: Pulling and stretching the foreskin can cause inflammation and tiny tears on the foreskin which further develops into phimosis.
  • Scar Tissue: Several infections on the penis can scar the foreskin of the penis. Due to which the skin makes it hard or less stretchy. The harder tissues can cause difficulty in pulling the skin back.
  • Medical Conditions: Several medications can also cause phimosis such as diabetes, balanitis (infection of the penis tip).

Symptoms

Symptoms of Phimosis can vary from person to person. Some common symptoms of phimosis are:

  • Swelling of foreskin
  • Pain with an erection
  • Difficulty in passing urine
  • Inflammation in the tip of the penis
  • Inability to pull foreskin back
  • Difficulty in ejaculating
  • Bruising of the penis's tip
  • Fever (more than 101° F temperature)

Diagnosis

When you visit a doctor, they diagnose phimosis by examining your penis's forehead skin and asking your medical history. Doctors are familiar with these types of cases, so be comfortable while describing your condition to the doctor.

Untreated phimosis can give rise to many other body disorders also, which are:
