Introduction

Monomelic Amyotrophy is motor neuron disease in which there is muscle atrophy of the upper limb. In this disease there is muscle weakness due to disturbance in communication between lower motor neurons and the brain. Males are more prone to this problem. Family history, impaired functioning of anterior horn cells of cervical cord, forward displacement of cervical dural sac, cervical lordosis etc are the causes of Monomelic Amyotrophy. The symptoms of Monomelic Amyotrophy are weakness in the single limb (arm and hand mainly), cold hands, tremors, muscle cramps, muscle twitching etc. Medical history, physical examination, reflex test, MRI, electromyography, nerve conduction velocity are some of the diagnostic tests for Monomelic Amyotrophy.
