Austin Roasted Wild Coffee – Organic, FT, SOrigin

I don’t know about any of you, but I’m always in the market for some really good coffee. I’m not talking exclusive or fancy coffee either, but instead, I’m talking about just a regular cup of coffee. When I heard about Wild Foods and their coffee, I was eager to give it a try. Have you heard of Wild Foods? If not, let me share what I’ve learned…..

Wild Foods is a fast-growing startup located in Austin, Texas and they specialize in real food ingredients for health and performance. They are obsessed with ingredients; where they come from, how they are made and how they fuel us.  Here’s their philosphy:

“Wild Foods was founded on our desire to bring together the the best ingredients in the world to sustain our lifestyles. Knowing where our ingredients come from, how they were made, and the impact they have on the world, is of paramount importance because we believe that food is the most important aspect of health, body composition, performance and longevity.  We also believe that the current food system is broken and want to do our part in helping fix it. These beliefs form the Wild Guarantee: We only sell products we use ourselves!”

Not too long ago I did a post about coffee as a pre-workout drink. I still totally subscribe to that belief, and every day, I wake up, have a cup of coffee, and then do my morning workout, without fail. I won’t workout and then drink my coffee – ever. I therefore want a cup of coffee that wakes me up and gets me going, so I know I can be a bit of a coffee snob in that regard. I don’t want the coffee so strong that it tastes bitter or anything, and believe me, I love my no fat french vanilla creamer too, but seriously, I want a smooth cup of coffee every single day – workout or not. I’m not a fan of the corner coffee shop either – I”m likely to buy donuts at one of them and the other one has some fluffy french vanilla frozen drink that leads me down the road of temptation too, so for me, it’s my job to make myself a fantastic cup of coffee (or two or three) every day.

When I saw the Wild Foods coffee available for review, I signed up, and later found that I was approved. When I received the Sidamo Medium Wild Foods coffee, I opened it up and took a deep breath. Man, did that coffee smell good! I couldn’t wait to grind some up and have a cup either so I jumped right into it. The beans smelled so good as I put them in the grinder. A family member who doesn’t drink coffee at all mentioned how good the kitchen smelled just from the coffee beans! I ground the beans and popped them in the Keurig. I am sitting here typing while enjoying an ah-mazing cup of coffee.  No kidding either here.  While I received this product without cost in exchange for my honest review, I am truly giving you my honest review – this coffee is something you don’t want to miss – no harsh flavors, not bitter, smooth as could be – I barely even put creamer in the cup because the coffee tasted so good.

While it doesn’t say anything about nuts, to me, the flavor had a hint of nuts.  Instead, what Wild Foods says about the Sidamo medium coffee is that it is their “medium roast single-origin blend of Ethiopian beans grown at 5,000-7,200 feet in vertisol soil. It is fruity and floral with hints of blueberry. Ethiopia is where the original coffee plant, Coffea arabica, originates. According to legend, a goat herder named Kaldi noticed his goats ‘dancing’ around after eating berries from a nearby bush. Kaldi tried the beans himself and was so excited by the effect that he brought the berries to monk at a nearby monastery. The monks brewed the beans in water so they could sip it during long prayers. The rest is history. Sidamo Medium can be brewed with any typical brewing device, but we prefer the pour over method (and it’s great iced). Sidamo Medium has a low-to-medium acidity, a creamy body and notes of fruit and berries.”

For me, my morning pre-workout coffee has now been changed. I will be enjoying an awesome cup of Sidamo Medium by Wild Foods coffee, and I’m sure if you give it a try, you’ll make the switch too! Not only is this coffee healthy and tasty, it is great for my fitness regime too. Since I have called myself officially off the injured reserve list, I will use Sidamo Medium Wild Foods coffee to get me going on my new training plan. As I train, I’ll be glad to share with you how much I continue to love Wild Foods coffee, and in fact, I may be tempted to try some of their other flavors too.
