An aussie couples wedding event has just cost them well under $9,000. They had all the trimmings, accommodation for over 70, the reception and all the bling. I bet your wondering what they really had and how they did it, well heres how;
- All planning for the event was well researched, with the bride spending most of her planning time online, she looked, she found, then she compared and always came up with super deals.
- Wedding dress, hair accessories , her bridal jewelry, garter, underwear, all bought online. Bridesmaids dresses and their accessories also online. (the bridal party did purchase their own dresses ) The bride and bridesmaids flowers were purchased online, which she turned into the bouquets herself.
- The biggest saving of all came from where their wedding event was held. Both the bride and groom loved the natural setting of the Australian bush, so they instantly had their theme. The next stage was to source a suitable venue for the event. They found a huge wonderful school camp on a river, and bingo this was it. The school camp was perfect, huge function area, huge fully equipped kitchen, and the best of all was the fact it had accommodation for 80 people, and a private little house for the bride and groom so they could privacy. This venue was then booked and paid off over a few months,,, expensive? No, quite cheap when you hear that they had the place from friday until sunday. The cost was about half of what it would have cost just for a basic buffet reception. - Food was purchased either well before ( non perishables ) or fresh the day before, from fresh markets and stores where she knew she could get a discount for bulk. Napkins , vases, flowers and table decorations where purchased from local discount stores. Chair covers , sashes table clothes and table runners and all other decorations, again bought online, ( and resold after the event)
- The catering was done by a family member so that was extreme cost cutting again, The wedding cake also done by the same person. The alcohol was paid for the by the grooms parents and the photography by the brides.
- As everyone was already at this wonderful spot there was no need for transport another cost gone. another advantage was no one had to drive home afterwards.
- Hair and make-up were done on site where the event was held. The bride found a mobile make-up artist at a good price, saving not only money but time as well. The whole bridal parties hair was also done onsight by a mobile hair stylist.
- Their wedding rings were bought at after christmas sales, saving over 40% for much better quailty.
- They did not want to receive gifts as they already had a home set up , so decided to have a wishing well, this then paid for their overseas honeymoon, with spending money.
