August Reads | Short Reviews
This month I've read eight books and a novella, usually I read two books a month, though with all the time off I've managed to read nine and I'm now on my tenth. These books are all very different—four i had in book form, the others I read on my Kindleand I'm just going to be brief when talking about them because there are a quite a few here. I've read a range of genres this month; one is a paranormal book, three of them are a fantasy series, four contemporary; two romance, one mystery and the last one I wouldn't really know how to put into a genre.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer — Michelle Hodkin
I actually really enjoyed this book, I knew I was going to love this book before I had even read it, and I have the second one by my side currently. It's so different to any other book I've read and it actually plays with your mind a bit, there's a lot of mystery and paranormal things going off. But reading this, and learning pieces about the characters was so interesting. Also, Noah Shaw is another reason why I read this book, a classy English fellow whom lives in America always manages to make me swoon.

Hurt — Tabitha Suzuma
Hurt is the second book I have read by Tabitha Suzuma, and it is known she writes taboo related books, that shed light on important issues and this was exactly the same. Once I had finished this book I sat for a very very long time and just thought about this book. The book is about a secret, something that happens over a weekend and the main character cannot remember what it is, and whilst reading and finding out what had happened, it hit me like a bus and I began to feel a lot of guilt for not realising sooner. I think that is what this author always sets out to do, she makes you sit and question her books and they stay with you for days, just playing in your head.

Isla and the Happily Ever After — Stephanie Perkins
Isla is the final book in the Anna and the French Kiss trilogy, like always Stephanie Perkins did not disappoint. It was so fantastic, just as the other books were. It was so similar, but so different because rather than watching the characters fall in love for the entire book, we got to see them as a couple, together for the majority of it. It was fantastic, if you ever need to read a cutesy contemporary book, you need to pick up a Stephanie Perkins book. I cannot express my happiness of how the characters from all the books come together in this story for the finale. So wonderful.

The Infernal DevicesClockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, Clockwork Princess — Cassandra Clare
These three books are now my absolute favorite book series, ever. I quickly fell in love with the three main characters, I love everything about them, especially the friendship they share as a threesome. It's safe to say I flew through these books, and now a few days after finishing I am reluctant to let go of these characters and this story. I wept through the entire last book, so many times I had to put it down because I couldn't see the pages. These are the first books I have read by Cassandra Clare and her talent is nothing short of incredible, she has created such a brilliant world, and such adoring characters who care so deeply for each other, and they are going to stay with me for always. I am so thrilled I have read these, and never will I forget the story of Tessa Gray, Will Herondale and Jem Carstairs.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before — Jenny Han
I had heard so much about this book, so many people had read it and so, obviously, I was desperate to read. I loved it, it was so adorable, I really was starting to like these characters, I was so involved in the plot line and where it was going and then it ended. It just finished. I cursed several times because I just wanted to know what happened to the characters in the book. Though, I've heard that we can expect a sequel in the future, let's hope we find closure about these characters from the next one.

We Were Liars — E. Lockhart
I really liked this book, I would have loved if it I didn't know what the book was about. I had accidentally found out the spoiler, so it didn't hit me like it should have. I also couldn't cry at it, even though I found it quite emotional at the end, but I couldn't cry because I'm worn out from crying over Clockwork Princess two days ago. But nevertheless, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and it was the first mystery book I read and I would recommend to anyone.
