At Least Those Rats Are China Pets ...

Posted on the 23 August 2012 by Tlb Music Blog @TLB_Blog

When the first lyric you hear from China Rats is "Got No Money And I Wanna Die, I've Got N.O.M.O.N.E.Y.", despite it being within an incredible track, you wonder how they managed it and can even question your ability to like music. However, their new single, (At Least Those) Kids Are Getting Fed, has quite the same effect on you and is just as enticing a single.
China Rats continue to contain a very Vaccines-esque presence within their music, which is something I managed to pick up on last time, but this track is much slower and a different construction from N.O.M.O.N.E.Y.
There is a lot more in the way of progression throughout this song. In their debut, China Rats managed to keep the same riff ging for quite some time and allowed the words and the sheer speed of it all to take you on that ride. This one does not rely on that so much and therefore begs them to try that little bit harder - they definitely step up to the plate though!!
The uncontrollable urge to sing along to the chorus become apparent after hearing them a few times over within the first full listen and the, quite brilliant, progression of the track makes for an eclectic mix of Brit-Pop and Indie music that slots perfectly within the trends this year.

This band will be getting their name up in lights before you know it.
