Because of some scheduling mishaps and financial choices my original plan to go to NYC this week is cancelled. It has been an extremely difficult pill to swallow but family is first, always. Instead, I am going to live it up with Armchair BEA this week, enjoying these days of post suggestions, blog hopping and blog cheerleading {my first year in that capacity and one that I’m thoroughly looking forward to!}
For my non-book blogger readers – this week, the annual Book Expo America {BEA} is taking place in New York City. BEA is the largest publishing conference in North America and the opportune time to meet the publicists, authors and book industry folks. Since every book blogger is not able to attend BEA, Armchair BEA was started four years ago to give bloggers a chance to participate in a virtual conference. It is tons of fun and gives us the chance to meet new bloggers, participate in spectacular giveaways, and learn from each other and industry leaders.

A favorite book and/or book related quote?
Impossible to narrow it down to just one! A few of my favorite books are 11-22-63 by Stephen King; Prayers for Sale by Sandra Dallas; and Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 3 books would you bring? Why? What 3 non-book items would you bring? Why?
11-22-63 by Stephen King – it’s a chunkster, I’ve only read it once so far and I know there’s a lot I missed
The Bible – you can read it over and over and though the story is the same the message is always different
Glimpses of Grace by Madeleine L’Engle – my favorite author ever {read my love letter here} Glimpses of Grace has snippets of most of L’Engle’s books for each day so it would be like I was taking my entire L’Engle collection with me all in one tiny book.
non-bookish items? Swiss Army Knife, Water Purifier, and a cell phone
the knife for cutting brush for shelter; catching, cutting and eating fish; and
the water purifier so even if I only have the sea I will be able to have drinking water
and a cell phone so hopefully I can call somebody to come rescue me {I’m just betting there’s a cell phone tower on the island!}
