Armchair BEA: And So It Begins

Book Expo America kicks off today in NYC, and although I cannot be there in person I am going to enjoy sitting on the sidelines this year with my fellow Armchair BEA bloggers!  Each day this week there will be much afoot in the book blogger community from giveaways to interviews to inside peeks into the blogging world.

Today is devoted to personal interviews.  Here is yours truly…a peek into my world:

Armchair BEA: And So It Begins

Yaya and the Jellybean

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging? I am many people all in one – isn’t that what most women are?!? I am a mom, Yaya, girlfriend, daughter, sister, friend, aunt….and book review blogger. I have been blogging for a little over two years, and although I’ve had a few days here and there that I’m quiet, I cannot imagine NOT having my blog! I started A Novel Source so that I could connect with others who love to read. I was in an isolated area, new to my area, and simply needed a connection with other adults! The blogging community embraced me and I feel as though I’ve come home.

What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?

My favorite book so far this year is without a doubt, 11-22-63 by Stephen King. I listened to the audio version and fell in love with the narrator! You can read my review here. I also just finished Perla by Carolina de Robertis which is a close second to 11-22-63 but for very different reasons.  King’s book made me think and was entertaining.

The book by de Robertis has to be the most beautiful lyrical writing I have ever read. It was simply stunning, moving and should be read by all who love literature. My review for Perla can be found here and the Author Spotlight can be found here.

What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?

My favorite feature is the Sunday Serenade. Each Sunday a book review blogger is interviewed and highlighted.  I thoroughly enjoy learning about my friends in the blogging community and love to share them with others! I’m always looking for bloggers to serenade so if you are interested, let me know either in the comments or via email at [email protected]

Where do you see your blog in five years?

Five years is a long, long time from now and in this ever-changing world it is hard to imagine where anything will be in five years, much less my blog! Can I change the question to where do I see my blog in 5 months?!?  hanging out at WordPress, being created with an Apple rather than the current computer that has a few dents from the hammer used over the weekend to get it functioning again, and just more.…more reviews, more giveaways, more fun.

If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?

Ever since I was in 7th grade and Mrs. McNeary read A Wrinkle in Time I have wanted to meet Madeleine L’Engle.  When Ms. L’Engle passed away on September 6th, 2007, a much-beloved author left this world. Growing up, I always said I would write to L’Engle to let her know it was her words, her stories that got me through my teenage years….it was L’Engle’s passion for God, her family, her characters that helped formulate my character, my beliefs. I will forever regret that I did not write that fan letter, but I will always treasure my favorite author.  If I could go back and have dinner with Madeleine L’Engle or even have the chance for her to read my fan mail…then I would jump at the opportunity in a New York minute!

Thank you for visiting A Novel Source and learning a bit about me.  Enjoy the week of Armchair BEA!

Cheers!
