Arizona Highlights: Chiricahua National Monument Look at the picture above. Can you guess how the Chiricahua Apaches called this land?  They called it the "Land of the Standing-Up Rocks".  It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
Arizona Highlights: Chiricahua National Monument These rock formations were created when Turkey Creek volcano erupted 27 million years ago.  Millions of years of erosion later, we are rewarded with a forest of thousands of these stone pinnacles.

It's strange that this place is not so well known in the U.S.. That's what I like like about national parks in the US, it's empty. I guess because they are all so vast.
