Arisi parupu sadham(arisiyum paruppu)Arisi paruppu sadham, Coimbatore/kongu nadu special recipe is a winner of both wolds.It is a very healthy dish that tastes divine.A perfect dish when you want to wrap up your kitchen chores fast and also crave to eat something good and scrumptious.I came to know about this rice through a small recipe attachment booklet in one magazine some 2 months back and since then I have already made 3 times.arisiyum paruppu. There were two types given,one with some fresh  roasted spices and other one with sambar powder.I tried the no grind version and sharing that here.Try this simple and tasty dish,perfect for a weekend brunch,put in the pressure cooker and laze around :)Once ready serve with raita.
Arisi paruppu sadham recipe
Star ingredients:Rice and tuvaram parupu(pigeon peas)
Time:30 minutes
Serves:3
Arisi parupu sadham(arisiyum paruppu)
Ingredients:
1 cup raw rice
1/2 cup tuvaram paruppu(Pigeon peas)/avarai paruppu(I used tuvaram paruppu)
2 onions chopped fine
2 tomatoes chopped fine
2 green chillies slit
1 dried red chilli
2 teaspoons sambar powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon crushed black pepper
10-12 curry leaves
1/2 teaspoon crushed ginger
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
Salt
Oil
Method:
1.Heat a pressure pan/cooker and add 3 teaspoons oil to it.Temper with mustard,cumin,crushed black pepper,red,green chillies and curry leaves.Add crushed ginger and saute well
2.Add the sliced onions and fry till translucent.Add chopped tomatoes and saute till mushy.
3.Add sambar powder,turmeric powder and saute till raw smell goes off.
4.Add the washed dal and rice,mix well.
Arisi parupu sadham(arisiyum paruppu)5.Add 3 cups water,salt and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
6.Pressure cook up to 3 whistles.

1.Use pearl onions if possible
2.You can use any vegetables if you prefer
