Are yoga pants the new jeans, and are sports bras the new crop tops? Both bra and jean sales have been falling, due in part to women's desire to dress comfortably, and for fashion to blend with our busy on the go schedules. However, the recent "Athleisure" trend has taken substituting yoga pants for jeans, to a whole new level regarding athletic wear. If you would have told me ten years ago that wearing yoga pants, sneakers, and a sports bra was considered 'in style' in 2015, I would have thought it was wishful thinking...but it looks like athletic wear has stepped up its game, and is barging into the fashion world.
Here's what you'll need to pull off a trend that looks like it's here to stay:
Sports Bras (the new crop top): Who knew that an article of clothing that was meant to hold your boobs in place while at the gym could become a statement piece? From Moschino to Alexander Wang, designers across the board are creating sports bras that are meant to be worn outside the gym.
T-Shirt (or lack there of): What's the point of a buying a cute sports bra if no one can see it? Try pairing it with a shirt with cut outs or a racerback tank.
Sneakers: Sneakers have always been in style, but lately they've become an item you can wear to any occasion, and mix with a more formal look.
Backpack: Backpacks have often been associated with a prep-school look, but lately, they've also given off an edgy and sporty look when paired with additional athletic fashion.
Yoga Pants, Athletic Pants, and Sweat Pants: Yoga pants quickly became a popular item to wear outside of yoga or pilates class. But the style has progressed to include all athletic pants and sweatpants in the mix.
