April 26, 2016 – Tuesday’s Training Report

By Debi Lantzer @debiL1611

We are getting closer and closer to the weekend of the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Challenge Series and I’m getting more and more excited every day! I love going to Cleveland, I love seeing my family and friends, and I love participating in the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Race every year. It’s not too late to register either, so be sure to head over to the Official Website for the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon and get yourself signed up – if you haven’t had a chance to train for the half marathon or the full marathon, you can sign up for the 5K, 8K, 10K. No race is too small!

This is the second year I’ve been privileged to serve as a Race Ambassador, and for the second year in a row, I’ve been able to talk with, learn from, and enjoy the company of my fellow Race Ambassadors. (You can check them out HERE.) I flew up to Cleveland in January for a quick weekend visit and saw a few of them, and I shared dinner by way of FaceTime, but I’m really looking forward to catching up with everyone “live” in a couple of weeks.

So, this is a training report, right? What have I been doing? Well, last week I told you I was using a hula hoop in the pool – let me remind you here:

I thought it was funny but no one else was laughing. This past week wasn’t seriously eventful unfortunately.  I’m battling between resting, icing, rolling and basically dealing with an IT band issue on one leg and plantar fasciitis on the other foot. In between, I’m able to have a few days where I don’t notice it, and on those days I’m running about three miles at a time.  This weekend I have a Girls on the Run 5K with my friend, Jan, but other than those miles, I’m sad to report that I’ve not been able to push it much more than that.

This doesn’t mean I won’t participate in the race though.  I’ve reduced my 8k/half marathon challenge to the 5k/10k challenge, and I think I’ll be fine.  It won’t be any kind of PR, but it’ll be great to hit the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Expo, it’ll be great to see everyone, it’ll be great to hug up on my grandson and it’ll be great to have a real vacation for a change.  This week I’ve taken 8 days and 7 nights in Cleveland and I’ll be honest: my dance card is filled every night except one – for now.

I’ll keep you posted on my training, my injuries, my healing and I’ll let you know when I get out of that hula hoop pool 🙂
