American Harvest

By Yonni @vegandthecity

It's no secret that my signature drink is tequila.  On the rocks.  With fresh lime juice.  A splash of pineapple if I'm in the mood for something sweet. Sometimes though, I'm in the mood for something different, and vodka is next in line.
Last Tuesday night I went to a party at Equinox in Greenwich, celebrating their third anniversary.  I know they are all about fitness, but they also know how to party!  There were quite a few tastings to be found, from food to beverage, but the one I most enjoyed was American Harvest, an organic vodka.
As their pr materials read, "Like America itself, American Harvest was built on a promise.  From field to bottle, a promise to create the finest quality product, without compromise to the environment or our nation's national resources.  American Harvest is proudly handcrafted in small batches from organic American winter wheat, certified organic ingredients and water from deep beneath the Snake River Plain, yielding a distinctly smooth and silky spirit with a crisp, clean taste."
While you could simply have it over ice with a lemon twist, why not try the Sparkling Citrus Harvest: 1.5 parts American Harvest, 3/4 part simple syrup, 3/4 part fresh lemon juice, 1 raspberry, sparkling wine.  Combine the first three ingredients in a shaker, with ice, and strain into a chilled flute.  Top with the raspberry and wine.
You could also try the Harvest Mule: 2 parts American Harvest, 1/2 part freshly squeezed lime juice and 4-6 parts ginger beer.  Just combine all of the ingredients in a glass, add ice, and stir. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Happy Friday!American Harvest
