Add Attributes to Landmarks in GPS Tracking Software

Say you need to research stops for a driver for the past week to verify a job – as any GPS tracking software user will know, this report will be filled with many addresses by nature. Wouldn’t it be easier to identify a customer’s name or the corner coffee shop rather than scrolling through a list of addresses that have no meaning? You can easily identify locations in GPS tracking software by creating landmarks or geofences. You can create landmarks around customer locations, your warehouses, employee hang outs and homes, off limit streets, or just about any area you can view on a map that has meaning to your business. Landmarks are essential to making location based data meaningful within a GPS tracking software.

GPS Insight is now taking geofencing technology to the next level by adding attributes to this feature. Landmark attributes are created to describe something important about a location that will be useful for the driver upon arrival or when leaving a landmark.

What Does a Landmark Attribute Do?

There are many different ways that landmark attributes can be used to provide information. One of the most unique aspects of this feature is incorporated into landmark alerts. Landmark alerts are triggered and can be sent to a driver when they arrive or leave the boundaries of a landmark. The advantage of the attribute is that it can provide extra information that will save time and also keep drivers safe.

For example, say one of your customers has a gate code to access their facility. Simply create a landmark alert for that customer and include the gate code as an attribute. This way, as soon as a driver is inside of the landmark, an alert will be sent with a note attached providing the gate code.

Another situation which an attribute could be applied is to let a driver know they need to send the office information when leaving a job site. In this scenario, add an attribute labeled “respond,” with a note attached that says something like, “call the office with invoice # before leaving.”

Have you ever had a driver pull up to a job site and they realized too late that there was a German Shepard guarding the front door? You can even set up an attribute to solve this problem! Associate a landmark with any type of information that will keep your drivers safe and aware of unique characteristics of a job site. This type of advanced customization provided by GPS tracking technology gives fleets the most information possible and will ultimately make daily operations easier to manage.
