Faith faces an impossible situation: Should she do the right thing and bring heartache to nearly everyone she knows or deny her true self and always wonder . . . what if?

Sixteen-year-old Faith has worked full-time in her parents’ restaurant since she finished eighth grade. She loves her Amish community—and the romantic attentions of her longtime friend, Gideon. When her sister seems to be getting too friendly with Englischers, and her parents are in a buggy accident, Faith wants to escape into her dream of joining the church and getting married.

But then a local newspaper runs a story about a child named Adriana who was kidnapped fifteen years earlier, and everything Faith has held true comes into question.Suddenly the community Faith has known her whole life seems unreal. Can she even trust her own family? And how will she ever find home again if she no longer belongs in the world she knows best?

Today’s book review is another book I received as a part of The Fiction Guild’s Elite Reader Program and its Abiding Mercy by Ruth Reid.  I couldn’t pass it up when I saw it was an Amish book by Ruth Reid book because I know my mom loves to read her books! Here’s Gloria’s review:

This is the first novel in An Amish Mercies series by author Ruth Reid.

Rosalyn and Brandon Culpepper’s daughter Adriana who is 18 months old was kidnapped while Rosalyn was grocery shopping 15 years ago.  Rosalyn never gave up hope on finding her daughter but the police believed the baby was in a car that went into the river so they closed the case.

The kidnappers gave her to an Amish couple who named her Faith.  She is a lovely 16 years old Amish woman that works full time at The Amish Table the restaurant her parents own along with her mother and her sister Olivia.  Faith and Olivia’s parents were in a buggy accident resulting with them having serious injuries.

Abiding Mercy by Ruth Reid

Faith loves her Amish community and her dreams are be baptized, join the church, and get married.  Faith’s longtime friend Gideon Rohrer has been courting her sister Olivia but lately Olivia is thinking about jumping the fence and Gideon is starting to have romantic feelings for Faith. Is there a future for them? Will Olivia jump to the Englisch?

Rosalyn put an article in the newspaper with an age enhanced photo searching for her missing child Adriana that was kidnapped 15 years earlier.  Faith begins to have doubts….is this me?  Her life takes a surprising turn.   Faith has a lot of questions about her life and wants to find the truth. What does she learn?   Is her life as an Amish woman a lie?

This story has suspense, romance, angels, faith, and love.  It is a wonderful read that I highly recommend.

Abiding Mercy by Ruth Reid

Ruth Reid is a CBA and ECPA best-selling author of the Heaven on Earth series. She’s a full-time pharmacist who lives in Florida with her husband and three children. When attending Ferris State University School of Pharmacy in Big Rapids, Michigan, she lived on the outskirts of an Amish community and had several occasions to visit the Amish farms.

Her interest grew into love as she saw the beauty in living a simple life.
