What's better than a creepy, serial killer robot? A creepy, serial killer robot with a British accent, of course. This sci-fi short film, ABE is about something like that. A Dexter-like robot with a British accent, is seeking true love, someone who would love him like a human. So, he kidnaps women, ties them up and kills them when they don't love him. Oh, wait.. I should have said spoiler alert.
VFX artist Rob McLellan has made this short film, probably to get the attention of the Hollywood. Well, I think the mission is accomplished, because this is one hell of short film. This originally began as a short film called "Love... and all that", made for the Colchester Film Festival 48 Hour Challenge, and transformed into this awesome live action short.
I'm no VFX expert but, I think the combination of the CG animation, which McLellan did by himself and the Dexter knock off story made this sci-fi short one of the best I've seen. Yes, the monologue robot voice was a bit out of the scene. However, things like this could actually happen in the future.Which is why I think the illustration made in this short film is truly intriguing.
