On Friday we headed off to Scarborough for (what was supposed to be) a couple of nights away. We booked a Sun Holiday weekend earlier in the year when we thought this would be our only holiday! Luckily we managed to fit a week in Derbyshire in the summer so this was an extra bonus. When we booked we didn’t know that Big Mr A would be going to America with work on the Sunday so we decided to still go and cut the weekend short by a night.
Sleeping children in the car…
On the Friday we went around Scarborough for the day, having a wander around the shops and along the seafront. It was LIttle Miss A’s first time in Scarborough and she seemed to enjoy it!
On Friday night we decided to go to the entertainment on the Caravan site, big mistake! Now I have been to a lot of holiday parks when I was younger and never can I remember such terrible entertainment. First we had to sit and watch the bingo as they had stopped selling tickets then came the children’s entertainment. It was not engaging at all for the young children that were their audience and the Little A’s soon became bored and grouchy. All little children want to do is run around and dance, not have to be subjected to listening to silly questions about celebrities that even the adults couldn’t answer!
Back at the caravan for 9pm we decided on an early night only to be woken up at midnight by an incredibly loud family coming back to their caravan! Safe to say we didn’t have the best nights’ sleep!
On Saturday we decided on a trip to Whitby. We love it there and hadn’t yet been with Little Miss A. We had a great time looking around all of the little shops and bought Little Miss A a gorgeous headband from a lovely shop called Ruby Tuesdays. We went for a delicious cream tea in a really posh tea shop where we were told by two separate ladies how lovely our children were and we left feeling like very proud parents!
After a round of crazy golf we decided to head off back to Scarborough for fish and chips.
When we got back to the campsite we went and made use of the arcade, having already decided we wouldn’t be making use of the so called ‘entertainment’ that night. Walking back to the caravan Big Mr A suggested going home so that we could have a good night’s sleep and make the most of his last morning at home before his big trip. Within 20 minutes we were on the road and within 2 hours home!
Although we had a lovely couple of days away I think we have decided we are not big fans of caravanning holidays!
Happy to be home!
