X-Men: Days of Future Past unites the original cast of the X-Men franchise (Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, etc.) with the stars of 2011′s prequel First Class (Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult).

With the X-Men hunted in the distant future by mutant-killing robots called the Sentinels, Wolverine (Jackman) is sent back in time to his 1973 body to stop prevent a devastating war between mutants and humans. Wolverine must also unite frenemies Erik (Fassbender), and Charles (McAvoy), prevent Mystique (Lawrence) from carrying out an assassination, and unite all mutants in their fight against the sentinels and prevent the destruction of both humankind & mutant kind. Director Bryan Singer returns to the X-Men franchise, and blends the original cast with the First Class crew for an audacious, and action packed time traveling adventure.

Here’s a look at the all-star cast mutant line up that will take on the most powerful enemy any superhero has ever faced- The Sentinals.

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine:

Anchoring the whole thing is Jackman’s Logan, AKA Wolverine. According to Hugh Jackman, this film is Fox’s most expensive and ambitious film after Avatar. The longest-serving member of the X-Men acting company, Jackman is back for his seventh appearance in the hair and the claws. A mutant with accelerated healing, enhanced senses, adamantium-laced skeleton and retractable bone and adamantium claws. With the mutant race on the verge of extinction, Wolverine’s healing factor makes him the only X-Man capable of withstanding the rigors of time travel. He’ll have to survive long enough to complete the most important mission of his life: to go back in time to prevent a chain of events that will bring about the end of mutantkind.

Jennifer Lawrence as Raven/ Mystique:

A mutant with the ability in shape-shifting and transforming oneself into anyone she wants to. Singer stated that Mystique “is less innocent, evolved, getting closer to where Mystique was in the initial X men films.

James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier / Professor X:

The world’s most powerful telepath, Xavier has watched the mutant race be slowly hunted down. But now the time has come to lead his X-Men in their greatest battle; both in the present and the past. Singer describes the younger Xavier as being “a very different beast from First Class’ feckless playboy. He’s a wounded animal, bearded, long-haired, filled with rage at the way the world has treated him.”

Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen as Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto:

A mutant with the ability to manipulate metallic objects and described as “one of the most powerful mutants on earth”. Magneto was at odds with Professor X and the X-Men for decades. But with mutant annihilation on the horizon, old animosities have to give way to new alliances.  Singer describes McKellen’s role as “also a fixture in the future war, facing an enemy so monstrous that it forces former foes to band together”

Halle Berry as Ororo Munroe / Storm:

A mutant with the ability to manipulate the natural elements. One of the most battle-tested and powerful X-Men, she will lead the X-Men in the toughest challenge they have ever faced. Berry states that “there’s something very revealing and shocking about Storm in this movie. There are some things you find out about her that I think give you much more insight into who she is.”

Anna Paquin as Rogue:

A mutant with the ability to absorb the mutant abilities of anyone she touches.

Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde:

A mutant with the ability to phase through solid objects. Singer describes Pryde as the prime facilitator and that Pryde’s phasing ability enables time-travel to happen.

Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy / Beast:

A mutant with super-strength, agility and speed.

Shawn Ashmore as Bobby Drake / Iceman:

A mutant with the ability to create and manipulate ice.

They will all need to be ready, as this time the X-Men are facing their toughest challenge yet in the Sentinels. Game Of Thrones fan favorite Peter Dinklage was hired to play a very different version of Bolivar Trask, a genius who views mutants as a mortal threat to mankind and decides to create the menacing, technologically advanced Sentinel robots to fight them.
