For many people, like myself, stress is never ending. There is always something going on that causes us to feel anxiety. Even when I think of trying not to get stressed out, I end up getting more stressed out than intended. I no way have severe, doctor diagnosed anxiety, but I have, what many people feel on the day to day basis, normal stress. Mine has to do a lot with tests, people, oh and here is comes....the future. Over the years, I discovered different ways to cope with stress and to relax more. I though I would share some of my ways with you in hopes it can help.
Shut Everything Down // One thing I find relieving is shutting everything down. Like my computer, cellphone, and so fourth. It sounds terrifyingly boring, but it is actually very soothing. It gives a feeling of being separated from the rest of the world. In this time try reading a book, going for a walk, or trying out a new recipe.
Play a Game // This is my most preferred method of alleviating stress. Video games help me get my mind off of stressful thoughts and give me something else to concentrate on. They also add a hint of nostalgia because I have been playing them before I was even in kindergarten. My favorite games include JRPGS and Legend of Zelda because of their elaborate plots.
Catch Up with an Old Friend // A lot times work and stress can dilute our minds and forget about what really matters, our friends and family. Having a heart-to-heart chat on the phone or in person is wonderful for the heart and mind.
Make a Run for it // Lol, literally, make like BTS and run! What I mean is to go for a walk around the late afternoon into the evening. The orange sunlight flooding the sidewalks is very heartwarming. The temperature also drops making it bearable.
Paint Your Nails // Now this is not for everyone, but it works very well for me. Nothing makes me calm down more than applying a fresh coat of polish.
Organize // When I am stressed out, I like to tidy up my room a bit. It helps de-clutter the mind and it feels as if your starting afresh.
Treat Yourself with a TV Dinner // Once in a while, I like to go out and buy a meal and watch tv while I eat it. It is very relaxing and feels like a treat in my opinion.
Sleep Away with Music // Many people cannot go to sleep when they are stressed out, so listening to music can definitely help. I like using Sound Cloud because they have many unique songs form indie and underground artists.
Being stressed comes with life, but there are ways reduce the amount of stress for a better day. I hope these tips helped you out and if you have any suggestions leave them in the comments below.
Happy Tuesday!
