I don’t really agree with all of this gift giving to teachers which has made it’s way over from the USA. I certainly wouldn’t go out and buy a box of chocolates or a bottle of wine for Little Mr A’s teacher, to me that just feels like buying something for the sake of it.
Little Mr A’s teacher this year has been amazing and he has a huge soft spot for her. Also, she is leaving the school to start a new job in Brighton so Little Mr A won’t even see her around school next year.
Instead of buying a gift I had Little Mr A draw her a picture which I bought a frame for. I also made a personalised card online which Little Mr A wrote a thank you in.
I don’t think this is something I will do every year but his first teacher has felt very special and we wanted to give her a token of our appreciation.
