A Gem In Speyer

By Ingridd @cosytraveler

I am convinced that I am cursed. Really… After having traveled around in 20 countries this year, I am sure of one thing: there are roadworks everywhere. And these roadworks sometimes keep us from visiting places we really like to see… Also in Speyer:

It was our goal to visit the cathedral (Kaiserdom), but due to roadworks Lars and I ended up in the Gedächtniskirche (or in English: The Memorial Church of the Protestation). This Protestant Lutheran church was built around the end of the 19th century, as a reaction against the renewal of the (catholic) cathedral.

Although it’s not a very old building, Lars and I thought it to be very beautiful and impressive. But we will come back to see the cathedral!
