A Friday Night “Quickie”…..

By Debi Lantzer @debiL1611

….. don’t get all weirded out ….. I don’t mean it in a sleazy kind of way, I mean it in a very different way.  I mean it this way: I don’t have a lot of time and don’t plan to write a lot, but I wanted to check in, make it quick and give you a small report on what’s up in my world….

There are still a bunch of races on my race calendar – it’s here in Sunny Florida remember? This weekend I’ve got the St. Patty’s 8K tomorrow and then Sunday my running friend and I are doing the First Watch Sarasota Half Marathon Relay.  It’s our second year of doing the relay so of course, we are the “Two Timers” this year.  Both races will be great because it’s actually COLD here in the mornings right now – I think tomorrow morning it’s going to be 55 or so!!

This week has been “recovery week” at the gym.  We just finished a 5-week boot camp challenge doing some seriously hard work.

A Friday Night “Quickie”…..

Then, there’s this week – a week of yoga, etc.  at the gym.  (For me, though, this week, it consisted of working 12 hour shifts and crashing into bed.  It’s March in Florida and that’s how real estate goes.)  I’m looking forward to getting back to the gym Monday – a new 5-week challenge too.

A Friday Night “Quickie”…..

As the race ambassador for the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Series, it’s my job to report about training, about running, about getting ready for the race. I’ve been slacking lately and to anyone who reads this, I truly apologize.  Tomorrow jump starts the running, and the gym has already started the strength training.  I’m hopeful that the strength training will make up for the lack of run training and that I’ll be able to pull it together and get to training for the race. You see, I’m signed up for the 8k/half marathon challenge this year and I have lots to make up for since last year was a bust. I hadn’t trained then either, but I was 30 pounds heavier, out of shape, it was raining, and I fell and got hurt.

A Friday Night “Quickie”…..

Since I have a commitment to report more often, I have made a promise to myself that I will be back on here sharing my training for the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Series AND the other races coming up on my calendar!
