A Few “Cosmetic” Changes

By Bren @Virtual_Bren

Boy, have the wheels been turning here!

Notice anything different?

Probably not if you happen to follow a direct link to this blog post but if you go to My Girly Part’s Home page, you will see a big change!

Go ahead! Do it!

HOME

Whoa! What happened here?

So I’ve been thinking about My Girly Parts and the its future, especially after my last post The Evolution of a Blog, and decided to make a few changes last night. A few changes took me longer than expected and I was up until a lil past midnight making final changes.

;)

But Well Worth It imo!

So let’s look one of the changes. The Nav Bar.

Normally, the blog post would have show up on the HOME page. Now they don’t.

If you reach My Girly Parts via www.mygirlyparts.com, you will reach our HOME page with the Slider, a Greeting below that, and 3 of my favorite topics being highlighted.

In order to reach the blog post page, from the Nav Bar, click Recent News. Recent News is the previous Home page that you are used to.

Another new addition is the Portfolio or Gallery Archives.

This is a pretty cool looking page imo. If you prefer to scan posts on My Girly Parts, from newest to oldest, you can check out the Gallery Archives. It will show you the Featured Image and a short Excerpt from the post. If you prefer to read more, just click the Title and it will take you directly to that post. There is also a Next Page that will take you to older archives.

Cool, no?

In addition to those “cosmetic” changes, I revamped My Girly Part’s About page to include, what I think is a more informative page about My Girly Parts, what our Mission is, and who we hope our audience will be.

Now is when I ask you for your honest opinion.

What do you think?

  • Does it make MGP look more professional?
  • More organized?
  • More networking oriented?
  • More user-friendly?
  • Do the pages load fine for you?

Next I’d like to remind you that anytime you’d like to Contribute to My Girly Parts, you can do so by reading Become A Contributor. Some of you already are and know the drill.  You are always welcome to Submit a post for Review and Publishing.

;)

Oh by the way, did you happen to notice this is the right-hand sidebar?

Contributors

Get the recognition you deserve, right?! I thought it was only appropriate to share the love of some of MGP’s Contributors. If you’re not already one, what are you waiting for? Find out how to Become A Contributor today! By the way, Men are welcome as well! It’s nice to get a Males perspective on things.

There are still a few minor tweaks I’m thinking of doing but it’s nothing major like the HOME page revamp and Nav Bar. I hope you find the recent changes enjoyable and more friendly. Again, please share your thoughts with me if there’s somewhere else I can improve or if any of the recent changes aren’t working effectively.

Lastly, I decided to create a daily newspaper via Paper.li. It’s called the Smart & Sassy Daily News. Yep, it’s in the right-hand sidebar too! Just click it (in our sidebar) and Subscribe!

Paper.li

I’ve already added several of YOUR blog feeds to it so it will automatically pull them into the Smart & Sassy Daily News as well as some of your tweets. Hope you don’t mind, but I wanted to promote my girlies as much as possible. I’m using the FREE version of Paper.li right now and it allows you to auto add 25 sources. I may have to look into the Premium version for more sources as well as some other goodies.

Anyone else using Paper.li premium?

I have a few more plans up my sleeve but those can’t be revealed right now. Be sure to LIKE MGP on Facebook and click Show In Newsfeed. I update it periodically during the day with random posts of my own as well as some pretty interesting blog shares.

;)

So what do you think of MGP’s most recent changes?
