It seems that any special occasion penciled into my diary is the perfect excuse to eat copious amounts of delicious food and February 14th was no different. We avoided the pressures of booking a meal at a fancy restaurant and instead decided to cook up a storm at home. We exchanged cards (my efforts above) and then cooked a tomato, thyme and goats cheese tart from River Cottage Veg Everyday by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. You can access the exact same recipe by clicking here. To add a little je ne sais quoi we also rustled up a side of honey roasted parsnips. Now as if that wasn't enough the next morning I was treated to a surprise visit to Boscanova, our local independent cafe to be reunited with my favorite vegetarian breakfast. The Veggie East End Breakfast features grilled halloumi, poached egg, grilled mushrooms, baked beans, cooked tomato, bubble & squeak and toast. Darren went for the meaty grilled streaky bacon sourdough roll. Check out the rest of the incredible menu here.
Having eaten so much for brunch we didn't think we would need to have any dinner. However, fast forward a few hours and our tummys started to rumble. Of course I didn't particularly fancy anything we had in the cupboard so I will hang my head in shame and admit we gave in and ordered Domino's. To be honest, I am a pizza girl through and through so the celebrations wouldn't of been complete without my favorite doughy companion.
