As a member of the Ravensburger Puzzle Club, we were recently sent three Christmas 3D Puzzles to build and review.
Each of these puzzles has 54 plastic pieces that, when put together, form a 3D sphere which can either be hung on your Christmas tree (with the hanging loop provided) or placed on the base provided as a decoration.
Each plastic piece is numbered on the inside together with a little arrow showing you which way around the next piece goes.
When complete the bauble measures 7cm.
Building the ball….
The puzzles are for ages 7 and above and were too difficult for Little Mr A to do by himself.
First we laid out all of the pieces in number order and then Little Mr A passed the pieces to me in order so that I could build the bauble.
I have never made a 3D puzzle before so wasn’t sure what to expect. I did find most of it easy to put together, however, the last few pieces in the top were quite tricky to put in (but that could just be down to my fat fingers!).
When built, I was expecting the bauble to be quite fragile, however, when all of the pieces are together, the ball is really quite sturdy and I would feel more than happy using it as a tree decoration. If you wanted to make the bauble even stronger you could glue it together as you made it.
I think these puzzles would make a great stocking filler for older children and grown ups alike and, with four lovely Christmas designs to choose from, there should be something to suit everyone!
