Well, I've gone from not changing my nail polish as frequently, to changing it almost daily! I blame it partly on the prone-to-chipping neons that I seem to be favoring. Soooo...here were the polishes I chose this past week!
I started with China Glaze's "Flying Dragon" which is kind of a weird polish. It's a medium, reddish-based purple with teeny tiny glitter-like bits in it. It's a very streak-prone polish and it has a matte finish. The glitter doesn't really show up very well - not that I wanted it too. I added a top coat to it, but I think it actually looked better without the shine. I like the color, but I'm not sold on the formula.
Next up is another matte neon from China Glaze. It is "Pool Party,"which is a super bright bold orange-ish shade. Kind of a tomato red neon maybe. It's intensely bright and definitely neon! Perhaps the glow in the picture gives that away! :) This one was pretty streaky too, but after 3 coats it looked even.
Since "Pool Party" chipped almost immediately (I think it was mostly the fault of my not-really-a-base-coat base coat), I actually changed to the next color only a day later. It's another intensely bright neon from China Glaze called "Shell-O." It's from their newest collection and is one of their jelly finishes, so it's quite sheer, but buildable. I believe this was 4 coats of "Shell-O." It was a little streaky, but I added the 4th coat only to make the color more intense. I really love this color. It's sooo pretty! :) It's a beautiful, albeit bright, pinkish-coral and perfect for summer.
Last night, I changed it up again. This time I used Julep's "Bess" from this month's Nantucket Nostalgia Collection. It's a pretty, bold pastel blue. Unfortunately, I fell asleep before it was completely dry (although after I took a picture) and ended up with those lovely sheet wrinkles all over my nails this morning. I hate when that happens! :)
This morning, I spent far too much time changing up my nails by doing an ombre effect. And again, it wrinkled a bit because I managed to use an overly thick white base that I didn't really let dry completely before moving on to the painstaking ombre process. It could look better, but I'm happy enough with it. Plus, after hours of working on it (seriously, I think it took me an hour just to get the ombre part dark enough), I'm not planning to change it too soon! :) I used the following colors, starting at the cuticle - Zoya's "Pippa," China Glaze's "Pool Party" and China Glaze's "Flip Flop Fantasy." Clearly I'm craving overly loud and bright things these days! :)
Hehe...looking at that picture makes me think of candy corn. It's pinker in person, but it still does kind of resemble really bright candy corn! :)
So those were my nails of many colors this week! I've clearly been wasting too much time!!! :)
What have you been doing with your nails lately? I'd love to hear your favorite colors because, clearly I cannot get enough nail polish right now! (Seriously though, neons seem to chip pretty easily and it was bugging me to see an insanely loud nail with a giant chunk of color missing.)
