Wednesday had a little bit of everything -- the morning began with impressive clouds and before long we had snow showers . . .
The tiny taste of snow thrilled the visiting Florida cousins . . .
And inspired me to make a winter comfort breakfast of pancakes and sausage -- this pancake in meant to be in the shape of a cat -- something my mother used to do for me and my brother.
After lunch, we went down the hill to surprise the engaged couple with the Lutyens bench John has been working on for the past months. He had told them it was a birthday present for me, as it couldn't be hidden, but at last the truth could be revealed.
Justin and Neko (his mama cat) and Claui try out the new bench.
I went off to teach my class and came home to a delicious meal, prepared by those fine Florida cousins . . . After dinner and Toll House cookies made by Fay -- the young person there on the right -- there were cutthroat card games for the young uns -- a perfect ending to a perfect sort of a day.
