October has long since come and gone, so it’s way past time
for yet another monthly favorites! I really didn’t wear much makeup during
October because I’ve been dealing with horrible breakouts on my cheeks. I’m
more concerned with clearing my skin than covering it up…though I have been more likely to wear something to hide redness even on days I
normally wouldn’t bother. Somehow with bright red acne flare-ups all over my
cheeks, I feel like wearing nice Fall lip colors and beautiful autumn inspired
eyes just accents the red bumpiness. I would say this will probably be short
and sweet, but it’s me and I’m long winded! J
Let’s get onto the products, shall we?!?! J
For starters, I’ve rediscovered something for camouflaging
my awful redness – well, helping with it at least. It’s the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer.
This doesn’t have as much coverage as the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint, but I find
that the NARS Moisturizer doesn’t stick to dryness as much as anything else
I’ve tried, and it does have decent
coverage for a tinted moisturizer. It doesn’t cover the redness completely, but
it makes me feel a bit more comfortable going out to run random errands. And
the biggest problem I find with most other forms of coverage is that they stick
to dry patches and emphasize healing areas that are drying out. The NARS is
pretty good at not doing this. It also doesn’t make me oily or make the acne
worse. Definitely a must have for me this October!
To keep my skin hydrated without breaking it out even more,
I’ve been relying on my amazing Badger
Balm Damascus Rose Antioxidant Face Oil. I’ve reviewed this before, so I
won’t go into too much detail, but it’s really great at keeping dryness at bay
without making my skin too oily. And the ingredients are really simple so
there’s nothing that is irritating to my skin, which makes it particularly good
when I have breakouts. (I actually use it most of the time, but I’ve been
really appreciating it this month!) To see a more in-depth review, you can

Sticking with Badger Balm, I actually finished a tube of the
Badger Balm Cocoa Butter Lip Balm! I
never finish an entire tube of lip balm, so that’s saying something! J I really love this lip
balm, especially during the day. It’s not too greasy, but it’s still hydrating
and keeps my lips soft. I’m not sure I could make it through a day without this
stuff! J
Keeping with the pleasantries of my month, I developed a
really itchy scalp with more than just a few flakes…yup, dandruff! I think it’s
partly due to using too much dry shampoo, but it’s annoying whatever the cause!
I picked up the Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo
& Conditioner from Trader Joe’s
and it has been wonderful! I can’t say that it eliminated all of the flakiness,
but most of it is gone. It’s difficult to find cruelty-free dandruff shampoos
that work! I also like the way this makes my hair look and feel. I’m not sure
it’s the best shampoo and conditioner combo I’ve ever tried, but it’s pretty
good…especially for the price (I don’t remember the exact price, but it was
less than $10 per bottle). It smells nice too. It’s kind of minty, but not
overly so and you don’t smell the tea tree at all (a definite plus!). Well done
again Trader Joe’s! J
Next, I’m gonna add another product from Trader Joe’s. It’s their Coconut Body Butter and it is
absolutely the greatest body moisturizer EVER! J
It’s about $5.00, it smells delicious, it moisturizes brilliantly, it sinks in
quickly and it’s not at all greasy. I’ve tried a few other moisturizers and
body butters this month and that’s kind of why I’m including this one. Seeing
how crappy others can be, I really appreciate the amazing quality of the Trader
Joe’s Body Butter. They briefly had a Pumpkin version for the season, which I
had to pick up too, but I haven’t tried it yet. It doesn’t smell like I
hoped…it’s more of a clean, fresh scent and I was hoping for a pumpkin pie kind
of scent. Anyway, the Coconut Body Butter smells delicious (like warm, toasted
coconut) and it works wonders so I absolutely adore it! J
Finally, a feel like I need to give a brief favorites nod to
Nails Inc. nail polishes. No shade
in particular, I’ve just absolutely loved the formula this month! They go on
easily, are pretty much opaque in one coat, and they last quite nicely. I feel
like it’s really easy to paint with the brush too. Absolutely love the few
shades that I have too! J
Must. Try. More! J
That’s going to do it for my favorites this month. My acne
has been improving, so hopefully I can add more makeup products next month and
also add some things that have helped! J
I hope you’ve all had a great month and thanks so much for checking this out!
Let me know what you’ve been loving this month and if you have any cruelty-free
recommendations for acne or dandruff. I’d love to hear them! J Until next
month…hopefully it will be a great one! J
