Attention all Indymedia folks and radical filmmakers!! **7th Annual NYC Anarchist Film Festival – Call for Contributions!!**
The 7th Annual NYC Anarchist Film Festival in Honor of Brad Will will be held Fri, April 5, 2013, as part of the NYC anarchist bookfair on (April 5th-7th, 2013) in NYC’s lower east side.
We are proudly requesting contributions from radical, creative filmmakers and activists. We seek to showcase work that documents past and existing resistance (preferably in the last year, as this is an annual event) and generally challenges the society we live in. We want to share ideas and perspectives about all forms of oppression, social struggles, resistance, uprisings, defiance, independence from the system, and examples of struggle, solidarity and autonomy.
This is a film festival with an anarchist vision; we seek to reveal and invigorate a rich anarchist presence in society, through film. However, it is not intended as passive entertainment for consumption. Our goal is to learn about the past and catalyze further action. We encourage audience discussion to inspire and ignite our spirit to move beyond fear and apathy. Therefore, we invite all filmmakers to attend the event, and to participate in discussion or Q&A about your film.
The NYC Anarchist Film Festival in Honor of Brad will started in 2007, after beloved friend, activist, anarchist, and journalist, Brad Will, was murdered by a police sniper in Oaxaca Mexico while filming a popular indigenous uprising that started as a teacher’s strike for better wages and schools. The first NYC Anarchist film festival screened Brad’s footage which was a document of a courageous resistance movement which defied violent State terrorism.
Guidelines for film contributions:

2. a summary of the film(s) you are contributing (please be sensitive to security culture!)
3. availability to attend the film fest
4. interest in presenting and/or conducting a Q&A about your film on Fri, April 5, 2013
To contribute your video digitally, please create your own free dropbox account at dropbox.com and email us at [email protected] from the
address attached to this account. We will then send you an invitation to upload your video(s) to a shared dropbox folder. (If your file(s) are more
than 2Gb, let us know and we’ll figure out a different delivery method.)
