5 Ways To Beat Stress
No matter how old or young we are, stress is a part of our life. What might create stress for one individual might not be a stressful situation for another. This is one of the many variables that make us who we are. Stress in our life if not handled in the right manner can put a toll on our body and mind. We as humans will never be able to eliminate stress, but we can control how we handle stress.
Here are 5 ways to beat stress.
Are you getting enough sleep?
It is recommended that you should get between 7-9 hours of sleep a night. Lack of sleep could make you see things differently and make choices that you might not normally make. With too little sleep you could feel on edge or over anxious. When a stressful situation occurs you need to have a clear mind to assess the situation before you act. Enough sleep will have you awake feeling refreshed and ready to concur the days tasks.
Nutrition
Nutrition not only helps you maintain a healthy weight, but will also help you control stress. Your body needs a certain amount of macronutrients to perform. When an important nutrient is missing your body will not perform at its best. Eat healthier choices and eat every 4 hours. This will prevent your blood sugar levels from dropping and spiking which in turn can cause a stress response. Have your meals planned out for the day. It is easy to fall off track and make a poor decision or even skip a meal if they are not planned out. The last thing you want is to make eating a meal a stressful situation.
Prioritize
Prioritize your day, week and month. Write down your tasks for the day. List them of importance. Things that must be done write down first. As the day goes by, many obstacles may arise clouding your thoughts and may have you overlooking something of importance. If you have your daily priorities listed in rank you will be able to accomplish more than if you were trying to think if you forgot something. If the list did not get accomplished those will take priority the next day. You will be able to sleep better not having your mind race about what needs to get done when you are trying to fall asleep.
Let go of the small stuff
Small stuff can cause a tornado effect if you let it take control of your emotions. You are in control of how you feel. Small problems will start becoming large problems. Many times the small stuff can be controlled with a clear mind. If you have to, take yourself out of the situation for a moment and think about the outcomes. If you take path A, where will it take you? What outcome will path B give you? If you can not come up with a solution, go back to it at a different time. Save your energy for the positive aspects of your life. You have a choice of dwelling on the negative or living the positive. If you are positive you will attract positive.
Exercise regularly
Take care of your body. It is the only one you are giving. Take pride in who you are. Exercise will not only help your appearance giving you better self esteem, it will also make you stronger, give you more energy and give you many health benefits. All of these attributes will help you control stress.
These 5 ways to beat stress will not come automatically, but with time you will find that it is your new lifestyle. You will be able to see life at a different angle. You will be able to enjoy the things that mean the most to you.
